Mandatory Use of Solar Power

Staff Correspondent: From now on solar power is to be used in hoardings meant for commercial purposes. Roadside hoardings or roof-top hoardings shall now be lit-up by solar power only. The government issued an order in this respect with effect from 6th June, 2010 onwards. Police shall take necessary steps if flouted. Mr Biswajit Mukherjee, Chief Officer, Department of Environment briefing on this said that it will help reducing pollution. The official order has been circulated to all relevant departments including Salt Lake Municipal Corporation, District Board (Zilla Parishad) and others.
