WATCH News To Watch

At last I got what I was searching so far - an ideal watch site. Great indeed! A very special friend of mine is going to celebrate her Silver Jubilee Marriage Anniversary next month. She is a kind of lady having peculiar hobbies. One such is buying sophisticated, gaudy, reasonable - priced branded multifunctional wrist – watches. Like we buy dresses and change every now and then. Her’s is with different watches. Moreover she is an executive in a firm of international repute. So I am taking this opportunity to gift her Rado Watch. I have gone through this site: http://www.bestfancywatches.info/. I think you also told me the other day that you want to gift your would-be engineer son a Rado watch before he joins Microsoft. So, Why not you go through the site before buying? I think you won’t be disheartened.

A Joint Venture Classical Evening by Spectrum, EZCC, Bangla Academy and Amuzing

Salt Lake Tribune, March-14th, 2011:
Spectrum in collaboration with EZCC, Bangla Academy and Amuzing arranged this program.

It had two sessions. The inaugural song was a Sanskrit Stotra which was tuned mainly on Raga Bairagi. But its beauty was that the composition had some unique harmonisation patterns which was more coloured by digital piano accompaniment of Parimal Ray and a well balanced Tabla backup accompanied by Biswajit Dey. The experiment was highly appreciated by the maestros present in the evening.

The session was next followed by "Shri Raam Bhajan", another experimental work performed by the junior most students of the Institute. This composition was created by Ritwik Bhattacharya. Some Melo-Rhythmic variations were enriched the whole performance though microphone arrangement was not good and it hampered the audience enjoying the flavor of the composition.

Rupa and Promit two of other disciples of Ritwik Bhattacharya then had their solo presentations.

Rupa presented Raga Madhuwanti which had a beautiful Bandish on Taala Rupak. Shubhasish Chakroborty was just inevitable for this performance - he really performed from his heart.

Promit aged near about 18 has grabbed some of the Taarkits, Taankari and else but he should more careful to sing in tune. He performed Raga Vimpalasi. The Bandish was based on Dwi-Matrik Ektal. He was also rightly accompanied by Shubhasish on Tabla.

Second session was initiated by Raga Yaman which was ornamented by Ritwik Bhattacharya. He decorated his presentation with a very sweet Aalap then it was followed by Vilambit Ektal, Madhyalaya Tintaal and finally reached the peak with a Drut Ektal Bandish. He finished his part by presenting a Meera Bhajan - "Aali Re ......", a fantastic composition of its kind.  On Harmonium Birol Ghoshal contributed a lot to the performance. Accompaniment of Amit Chattopadhyay was very loud and sometimes it over charged the voice. In a single word it can be said that Ritwik's performance was simply "Amazing". He was ovated by the audience with a spontaneous applaud. Being very impartial it may be mentioned that Ritwik has come to enrich our heritage - the classical music of India.

Kousik Bhattacharya offered Shyam Kalyan to the audience. After a very short Aalap he started Bandish based on Vilambit Jhaptaal and was finished with Madhya and Drut Laya Tintal Bandish. Kousik justified himself again. Raj Narayan Chatterjee on Tabla recalled Ustad Keramatulla Khan. Kousik was fortunate to get Pradip Palit on Harmonium. He proved the necessity of this beautiful reed instrument not as a substitute but in lieu of Sarangi.

The evening was not only musically sweetened but also captured by still and video camera by Kaustav, CEO, Lonely Highway

A sample survey within the audience revealed a positive result that people still love patronising any kind of Classical Recitals along with other form of Contemporary Music. The message is ushering and encouraging.

Salt Lake Tribune promises to publish a Photo Gallery of that evening within a week.

TSUNAMI NEWS

What is a Tsunami?

Now-a-days we hear the term Tsunami frequently. What is it?
Tsunami or 'harbor wave' is a series of water waves (called a tsunami wave train) caused by the dislocation of a large volume of a body of water, usually an ocean, but can occur in large lakes. These breathtaking waves are typically caused by large, undersea earthquakes at tectonic plate boundaries. When the ocean floor at a plate boundary rises or falls suddenly it displaces the water above it and launches the rolling waves that becomes a tsunami.
Tsunamis are common happenings in Japan; approximately 195 events have been recorded. Owing to the huge volumes of water and the high energy involved, tsunamis can devastate coastal regions. Japan was hit 11th of March, 2011 by a massive earthquake. The earthquake measured 8.9 on Richter scale. The epicenter for Japan Earthquake was located 373 Kms away from Tokyo in Northern Japanese coast. The Japan Earthquake has resulted in heavy waves in the ocean and prompted as many as 19 countries to issue Tsunami Alert.
The number of casualties in the Japan Earthquake is not yet clear. Many countries are expected to be hit with Tsunami due to this Earthquake. So, countries have alerted their people by issuing Tsunami Alert.
Google did its own part by displaying the following quote on its homepage:
“Tsunami Alert for New Zealand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Hawaii, and others. Waves expected over the next few hours, caused by 8.9 earthquake in Japan.”
Measures are being taken to save people from the Tsunami.
